Spearheaded by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, UAE, Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority, and Chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, and our expert technical committee, the theme of the Global Infrastructure Congress (GIC) 2018 has been set as: Built to last – driving engineering excellence through innovation for a more sustainable future. Taking place from 2 – 3 April at the Grand Hyatt, Dubai, UAE, the congress will be a platform to accelerate, change and forge relationships in order to close the global infrastructure gap.

Infrastructure will always be the foundation for the society’s future and therefore must constantly develop, adapt and grow. In our current global landscape, infrastructure has once again found itself top of the agenda for global leaders. Infrastructure authorities, developers and engineers face enormous pressure to close the expanding infrastructure gap between what needs to be done and what is actually being done in order to meet the demands of an ever-growing population to provide a sustainable infrastructure network.

This has led to three key developments in infrastructure that will be experienced over the coming years:

  • An increase in budgets for essential infrastructure
  • A shift towards new, innovative, technology-enabled solutions and management models that will speed up, improve and decarbonise infrastructure delivery
  • An emphasis to get more from existing investments and assets

The congress will include 4 dedicated forums, rich in knowledge-sharing and challenge-solving dialogue:

  • Roads, Bridges and Highways Forum
  • Port and Marine Infrastructure Forum
  • Housing and Urban Development Forum
  • Storm Water and Waste Water Infrastructure and Resilience Forum

As the trend of globalisation of infrastructure matures with both public and private entities expanding their global capabilities, the GIC community encompasses senior experts from across the value chain and around the world looking to source new solutions in order to close the global infrastructure gap. We invite you to come together at the Global Infrastructure Congress to export pioneering expertise, discuss the latest innovations, showcase solutions and engineering practices that will contribute to global progress and lead the way to the future of infrastructure.
